Florida, 10 May 2009: Abu Dhabi Investment House (ADIH) recently conducted two international Advisory Board workshops: the first Porta Moda Advisory Board workshop and meetings; as well as the second Entertainment City Advisory Board workshop and meetings. Both workshops took place in Florida, USA.
The workshops took place to provide the latest updates on both projects separately each with its respective Advisory Board where advise and professional expert opinion was given during round table discussions.
Mr Rashad Y Janahi, Managing Director, ADIH said, ‘the main objective of conducting workshops with the world’s most renowned names in the Entertainment and Fashion / Style industries is to obtain the best practice and expert opinion on the components of both projects. A win-win situation is presented where these experts can also avail of potential investment opportunities for their own organizations – on both business and creative levels.’
Mr Fawaz Ali Al Jowder, CEO, ADIH commented, ‘we are delighted to have such international teams working with ADIH on our vision projects. Porta Moda and Entertainment City are concepts that ADIH is proud of as they will help with local economies and help nurture talent within these communities. It is essential to have such workshops where the know-how is shared. Our ADIH, with its experienced project teams will work diligently to bring these concepts to life and help us realize our goals.
During the first Porta Moda Advisory Board workshop, the Porta Moda project was reviewed where each component was discussed on how best to enhance it. The components represent different districts in Education, Retail, Hospitality, Arts and Culture as well as Commercial. Porta Moda as a development that is unique to the Middle East region will be the hub for style and fashion students rather than going very far from their country of origin. With an emphasis on style and fashion, Porta Moda will create the best environment for education and training on the hands of experts of fashion houses to local talents. Advisory Board members who attended the workshop include the following international brands: Tommy Hilfiger, Fendi, Gucci, Alfred Dunhil, University of London Arts, Philip de Pury, Sothebey’s, Full Sail University, HL Group, Quintessentially, and the Borletti Group.
In addition to the planned destinations in Abu Dhabi, Qatar and North Africa, Porta Moda Marrakech – currently under construction, will be the first of Porta Moda’s to exist. The project is currently being implemented over more than 300sqm with total investments of US$ 230 million to build the infrastructure of the city. This project will further help with the Moroccan’s strategy to increase foreign direct investment into the country for local economy improvement, as well as establishing Marrakech as a cultural hub within North Africa.
The 2nd Entertainment City Advisory Board meeting also took place in Florida to discuss the concept of ‘Entertainment City’ and its global implementation. Entertainment City is a mixed use development containing components of retail, residential and hospitality with a focus on Entertainment. It is located in Navi Mumbai where the new economic development zone is. Entertainment Cities are currently being studied to be established in China, Tunis and other destinations within Emerging Markets where research shows the potential for investors. The Board was updated on the next steps and shared their views for existing projecrts plus others currently being studied.
Entertainment City Advisory Board members and workshop guests included Presidents and CEOs of internationally renowned brands in the Entertainment industry such as: AEG Live, Six Flags, MGM, Nokia Entertainment, Coca Cola Entertainment, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Intersports, Vertex Productions and Redlight Management.
